In 2022, Spencer Chaisanguanthum founded Eloquence Academy, the world’s largest youth-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing equitable academic debate opportunities for rural and Title 1 students. Spencer has raised nearly $60,000 for the effort and leads 225 volunteers in 39 regional chapters. The organization has held 13 national debate tournaments and 50,000 hours of tuition-free classes, workshops, and in-school programs, serving 3,600 students across 41 states and 20 countries. Spencer’s work in empowering his peers with lifelong skills like public speaking, critical thinking, and research has been recognized by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, the New York Times Upfront, Scholastic, amongst others.
