Sharron Miller, Montclair, is founder of Sharron Miller’s Academy for the Performing Arts. For over 25 years, Sharon has expanded arts education access for thousands of underserved N.J. young people – primarily children of color. Founded SMAPA, a Black-owned nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide comprehensive, inclusive developmental dance training for all ages. They inspire students to believe they can achieve, nurturing the potential within each student by encouraging creativity, building skills, fostering self-discipline, and bolstering self-esteem. Trains hundreds of students yearly at their studio in Montclair and through arts enrichment program in several Essex County schools in Newark and East Orange. Offers a 6-week full-day arts program, Prime Time Summer Arts, for children 6-14 in association with the Montclair Department of Recreation.
