Sarah Gordy, of Braddock, is a school social worker and civic leader and a strong believer in human and civil rights and she lives accordingly. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Camden County Mental Health Association and is a past President of the Association of School Social Workers Camden County Chapter. In 1990 she visited Namibia with the Evangelical Lutheran Church development program to educate and inform US citizens about this African country. After the kidnapping and murder of her daughter, in 1981, Ms. Gordy established the Michele A. Gordy Scholarship Fund to award money to Edgewood Regional High School graduates to further their education. 167 scholarships and book awards have been granted.
