Quadeer Porter of Newark created Brothers Building a Better Nation to support young men of color who were incarcerated or have criminal history as they begin to create a better future for themselves and their families. He invests deeply in his clients, offering mentorship, employment services, housing assistance and counseling. Created BBBN in Newark to assist Black and Latino males between the ages of 16 – 29, who have criminal records or are at risk of becoming incarcerated to help them create a better future for themselves and their families. Offers mentorship, employment services, housing assistance and counseling and utilizes direct intervention to meet and engage with brothers within the community. Partners with other local non profits, small businesses, and government agencies, to assist brothers with healthcare, obtaining government IDs, apprenticeship opportunities. Quadeer is the recipient of a $35,000 award.
